Prepaid Viacard
Notice is hereby given that Viacards have been discontinued. Their technology based on a magnetic stripe has become outdated and is rapidly falling into disuse. The decision to discontinue this payment method stems from the recent widespread use of credit cards with a chip, and especially prepaid credit cards, alongside the progressive adoption of new contactless technologies which do not require users to insert the card in the collection systems, thus ensuring shorter dwell times at toll gates, increasing safety and improving traffic flows.
At all toll gates on the Italian motorway network, existing Viacards can be used until the credit runs out by 31/12/2029. Customers may request refund of residual credit, with no minimum amount and no later than 31/12/2038 by following the procedures available on Autostrade's website.
