The infrastructure will mainly be seen by those who travel along it, as about 81% of the route runs in tunnels.
In the open-air sections, the project considers the entire area: the slopes towards the coast, the relationship of the new works with those in the surroundings, the native vegetation, the perception of homogeneity and continuity of the landscape.
The main objective of the Gronda landscape study was to verify compliance with the protection restrictions in the area and the areas of environmental value.
As part of the Environmental Impact Assessment procedure, the indications of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities to give greater architectural value to all the elements of the new infrastructure and especially to the design of the bridges and viaducts crossing the valleys were also incorporated.
The arrangements outside the tunnel entrance areas were also designed in compliance with the recommendations of the Landscape Superintendency, which guided the designers to seek remodelling and environmental insertion solutions suitable for reconstructing the naturalness and continuity of the hill fronts in which the motorway infrastructure is inserted.
The final design of the green works, which includes the use of native plants, integrates and completes the landscaping of the entire project.
