Elgea, Space for Energy is the new company of the Autostrade per l'Italia Group which operates in the design, construction and management of photovoltaic systems, enhancing the areas along and around the motorway network, with an initial target of 300MW which will provide a strong contribution to the elimination of the Group's emissions.
A further step that completes the approach underlying the strategic transformation plan of Autostrade per l'Italia, strongly focused on reaching sustainability goals.
Activities
The company develops technological solutions for the production, management and sale of energy from renewable sources. Among its activities we find:
- Coverage of the entire cycle of energy production from renewable sources;
- Design, construction and management of green plants;
- Production and sale of renewable energy.
Objectives
The company has developed an extended project which aims to:
- Use 2,000 km of spaces along the network, 80 service areas and 60 parking areas;
- Design photovoltaic systems along the motorway to reach 300Mv in the first years of activity;
- Achieve self-consumption of green energy produced by ASPI thus saving 156,000 tons of CO2 per year
