Phishing campaign

Phishing attempts and other scams, which illegally exploit and counterfeit the names, trademarks and/or logos of companies, are becoming increasingly frequent. In this type of scam, people are led to believe that they have received official communications from senders such as Autostrade per l'Italia. Instead, these are fraudulent pages and/or messages aimed at stealing personal information (e.g. credit card data) or requesting sums of money under various pretexts, e.g. inviting customers to pay allegedly missed toll payments.

  • Autostrade per l'Italia will never ask you to make a payment with extreme urgency. Remember you can settle unpaid tolls within 15 days from transit without additional charges, and reminder letters always contain a due date by which payment must be made.
  • Be wary of e-mails or text messages requesting personal information such as passwords, bank details or credit card numbers. Autostrade per l'Italia never requests such information, either by e-mail, SMS or WhatsApp.
  • Check for the “padlock” icon to the left of the browser address bar. This icon indicates that the site is protected by a security certificate (by clicking on the padlock, you can also view the certificate details). Be careful with links and avoid those beginning with “http://” or containing strange or inconsistent names.
  • Always take a few minutes to read the e-mail or message received carefully. A small detail can make all the difference: unusual addresses or spelling mistakes can be signs of a scam. Fraudulent e-mail addresses often have small variations or spelling mistakes (e.g. autostrede, autostriade, autostede.com/pay, ...).

Below are the main channels used by Autostrade per l'Italia to send communications:

Please note that Unpaid Toll Tickets can only be paid on the official channels published on the https://www.autostrade.it/en/home website.

Whatsapp messages are sent from the following numbers:

055. 4210452

055. 8883600

SMS are used exclusively for communications at the tollbooth, in special circumstances, and only with the support of qualified personnel, after verification and consent of customers by exchanging their contact details (email or telephone number).

If you have entered your personal or payment card details on a fraudulent site to pay a fake toll notification, it is important to act promptly. Here's what you can do:

  • Contact your bank or credit card service provider: the earlier a report is made, the easier your payment method provider can help you block the transaction and report it as suspicious

  • Submit a complaint to the competent authorities: this step is essential to initiate the necessary checks and ascertain any responsibilities, including criminal ones

Tell us what happened: Although we cannot intervene directly, your reports help us monitor and prevent malicious activity on websites that misuse Autostrade per l'Italia's name at info@autostrade.it. As soon as we receive your report, we will do our utmost to inform other customers and prevent further scams.
